To end our trip in London on an epic note, we decided to go to J. Sheekey, a very famous seafood restaurant. When I was making all the restaurant reservations, I thought that it would be good to have a change of pace and go to a non-Asian/Asian-fusion restaurant for the last meal for the sake of my dad.
Hi dad!
I went ahead with the daily lunch menu which included three courses.
Atlantic Prawns, avocado, hearts of romaine lettuce salad!
The picture does not do it justice but the shrimp was actually quite tender and succulent. and the romaine lettuce with the of crispy texture and avocado just simply being delicious with enough vinagrette to bring the salad together but not to overwhelm it.
My father and I each ordered a glass of white wine recommended by the restaurant. I have to say, this glass of wine was the best white wine I have ever had in my short drinking life. The temperature in which it was served in was perfectly chilled and it had a really crisp light finish to it, which worked quite well with all the seafood dishes.
My dad, being a fan of lobster, ordered lobster and he said that it was quite delicious and did not have any fishy taste to it whatsoever.
One of the most pleasant surprises was the fact that it was served with a side of fries. We may or may not have been super excited about the fries...
My main dish that I got as a part of my three course meal was Fillet of Sea Bass with roasted fennel and other vegetables along with an herb dressing. The crispy skin of the Sea Bass was almost like a cracker. It was just perfect because it wasn't greasy at all but just had that perfect consistency. Not only that, the roasted vegetables and the vinaigrette worked well with the fish as well.
For dessert, I got a Yorkshire rhubarb meringue pie pictured below.
And of course, we couldn't pass up on the opportunity for delicious English tea.
After having eaten at all of these delicious restaurants in London, my dad and I talked about which one was our favorite. Before J. Sheekey, my dad said that Zuma was his favorite. After J. Sheekey, however, we both decided that J. Sheekey was the winner. Although I am usually not good at choosing my favorite restaurants, I have to say my dining experience in J. Sheekey was absolutely perfect. The food, the ambience, and the wine!
After saying good bye to my dad, I met up with my friend Emily once more and we headed off to Amaya, a very trendy tapas-style Indian restaurant.
Sadly, after being spotted of taking pictures of the interior and of the cocktails that we both ordered (I had the red pomegranate one above and Emily had the tropical yellow one below), the restaurant owner approached me and told me that I cannot take photos... So I had to stop...
The food was overall very good, although it was wayyy more expensive than we had anticipated because we didn't quite get the part about it being a tapas style restaurant when we looked at the menu beforehand.. Oops.
